Proteas Pile Up 522 Against England At Leeds

LEEDS: South Africa consolidated their position against England when they piled up 522 runs here at Headingley on Sunday.
On the third day of the second Test, South Africa began their innings at 322 runs for four wickets and the overnight batsmen – Ashwell Prince and AB de Villiers – addedfurther 33 runs to set a record fifth wicket partnership of 212 runs against England.
Prince got out for 149 while Villiers reached 174. Mark Boucher made 34 runs.
After getting a huge first innings lead of 319 runs, South Africa’s Makhaya Nitni succeeded in taking two wickets as England could score 50-2 when the day’s play ended.
England needs further 269 runs to avoid the innings defeat.![]()
