Swat Militants Seize Police Checkpoint, Detain 30 Cops

The militants after 36-hour siege captured a police post in Shammozai area of Swat and abducted 30 police and Frontier Constabulary men.
Security forces were targeting the positions of militants in Shammozai area from Chakdarra with artillery fire.
The militants have blown up the house of Awami National Party leader Khurshid Khan in tehsil Matta of Swat valley.
Mingora-Peshawar road has been closed for all vehicular traffic due to the security operation in Shammozai.
Meanwhile, Chahar Bagh, Matta and Kabal areas were still under curfew.
At least eleven suspected militants were killed in a clash with security forces in restive Swat district on Tuesday in Shamozai, following militants’ attack on a police post which left at least five cops dead.
