Friday, November 28, 2008 at 5:11 am

Over  twenty-fours overs after the attack at the Taj Hotel, all terrorists holed up in the old Taj Hotel at Colaba have reportedly been eliminated by the National Security Guards and army, sources, however, suggest that one injured terrorist is still holed up inside the Taj Hotel. One terrorist was neutralised by crack commandos and is in an injured condition, according to NSG Director General J K Dutt said.

The operation at the Taj Hotel is believed to be complete with army sources claiming that the Taj have been cleared of terrorist. The police claim that seven terrorist, including those in the Oberoi hotel have so far been killed in the operation.

The terrorists had held about 405 people hostage, who were rescued by a joint team of the army and the NSG.

The fire, however, still rages on in the heritage building, after a night of terror targeting ten places killed over 125 people and injured over 327.

Earlier, the National Security Guard (NSG) along with the Rapid Action Force launched a fresh assault to end the on-going overnight siege. Also four suicide bombers were shot dead by the security forces in intense cross-firing.

Earlier, all hostages at the hotel were rescued, but there could be some still trapped at Trident hotel and Nariman House where operations were on to flush out terrorists, Maharashtra police chief AN Roy had said today (Nov 27).

Giving details of the terror attacks, Roy said terrorists struck in quick succession and in all there was shooting in 12 places. The Director General of Police made it clear that there would be no negotiations with the terrorists, and “we will very soon get them either alive or dead”.

After the morning activity, where fresh firing erupted, as the National Security Guard (NSG) commandoes moved in to flush out terrorists holding some foreigners hostage, AN Roy said, “The siege is finally over. All those who were trapped inside the hotel have been taken out.”

Sharp shooters of army, NSG and other security forces had moved into Mumbai’s landmark hotel opposite the Gateway of India to overwhelm an unspecified number of terrorists that were holed out after several residents were rescued in the wee hours. Police believed that the number of holed out terrorists could be three or four.

Fire and smoke was seen billowing from the hotel as firemen earlier struggled hard to rescue over 100 people still trapped inside. Five suspected terrorists were killed in two separate incidents overnight including two during a gun battle in the country’s iconic landmark Taj hotel, police said.

There can be 10 to 12 terrorists involved in the terror attack inside Taj Hotel in Mumbai, Maharashtra Deputy Chief TAJ HOTEL: All but one militant killed, says NSGMinister RR Patil said today.  Five of them have been killed and one of them arrested, he told reporters outside the hotel.
