The ‘Curious Case’ of Benjamin Button, considered a frontrunner for top awards, continued its losing spree with no wins in any prominent category at the 81st Academy Awards.
The Brad Pitt-Cate Blanchett starrer has not won any major awards, despite receiving numerous nominations at all the prominent award shows.
It earned 13 nominations in Academy, 11 in BAFTA and 5 in Golden Globe.
But the film could bag only 3 Oscars in the categories of Best Make-Up, Best Art Direction and Best Visual Effect, while in the BAFTA’s it received trophies for Best Production Design, Best Visual Effect and Best Hair and Make-Up.
The film directed by David Fincher, based on a short story by Scott Fitzgerald boasted of a super star-cast but didnot fare as expected.
Ironically, this year’s Oscars was dominated by the small budget Mumbai-based potboiler “Slumdog Millionaire” which took home eight Oscars.
