Three Arrested In Mumbai 13 7 Blasts Case
The Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad has said that the Mumbai serial blast of July 2011 has been solved. ATS has arrested two persons in connection with the serial blasts and is looking for three others, including the leader of Indian Mujahideen, Yaseen Bhatkal.
The accused, identified as Naqi Ahmed Wasi Ahmed Sheikh (22) and Nadeem Akhtar Ashfaq Sheikh (23), were arrested on January 12. On July 13 last year, 27 people were killed and nearly 100 injured when bombs exploded in quick succession in Zaveri Bazaar, near Opera House and close to the Dadar area in the city centre.
Claiming to have cracked the serial blasts that rocked Zaveri Bazar, Opera House and Dadar in south and central Mumbai, sources said the arrests have been made by Mumbai Police from Bihar. Maharashtra ATS chief Rakesh Maria said it obtained leads on the persons involved in the serial blasts after detailed investigation by ATS teams which went to 18 states in the past few months.
At a news conference on Monday afternoon, chief of Mumbai police’s ATS Rakesh Maria, told journalists that Naquee Ahmed, 22 and Nadeem Akhtar Shaikh, 23 — both hailing from Bihar — had been arrested. Nadeem, who comes from Naqi’s village in Darbhanga, resided in Antop Hill.
He was Naqi’s accomplice in stealing the two-wheelers. Ira Joshi, a spokeswoman for India’s Ministry of Home Affairs, said that such access was not part of the memorandum of understanding governing the visit. In his confession before the court — which he later tried to retract — Kasab described in detail a network of training camps and safe houses across Pakistan, revealing the names of four men he said were his handlers.
