Transporters Announce Wheel-Jam Strike From Today

KARACHI: Karachi Transporters Ittehad has announced the wheel-jam strike for an indefinite period from today to protest against the increase in the prices of petroleum products and demanded a minimum increase of Rs 6 in bus fares.
According to sources, following the increase in the prices of petrol and diesel, the Karachi Transporters Ittehad has submitted a written demand to provincial minister for transport Akhtar Jadoon for an increase of Rs 6 in public bus fares and announced a wheel-jam strike in interior Sindh and Karachi.
Meanwhile, provincial minister for transport Akhtar Jadoon said that the Sindh government has decided to increase the bus fares by two rupees after getting the assurance from the transporters of not going on strike.
He said the notification of this increase in bus fares would be issued in the next two days after getting an approval from the chief minister Sindh.
