After three years of twists and turns, the controversial nuclear deal was today approved by the US Senate, marking a historic moment for India. The UPA government soon, hailed the approval and termed this day as a historic day for the nation.
In what is seen as a personal victory for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi, the party expressed joy and welcomed India’s entry into the exclusive club.
Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi called the US approval as an unprecedented historic moment and said that such a deal has never been struck in the history of the world. He said, ”India has passed through approvals from the NSG, IAEA, House and Senate. This is an indication of India’s standings in the world. It is an indication of India’s great prestige and this should make every Indian proud. What is important is to now look forward. All controversies, issues and oppositions in a democracy was known and welcomed but the time has come where this has to be put to a stop.”
He added, “This is an agreement with India and not with a particular government or a political party. It is imperative on all of us to look into the future to see how this agreement is operationalised for generations to come, in the interest of India and Indians. And for that to happen we have to forget the past.”
Hailing Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi’s efforts towards the successful approval of the N-deal, Manu Singhvi added, “It was the continued, absolute, sincere and unwavering commitment of both the PM and the UPA Chairperson, which saw the nuclear deal through so many hurdles. it is truly a recognition of India as an independent power. We will now not be linked in our relationship with any other country, not with Pakistan or any of the South Asian countries and I think this should make every Indian proud.”

Welcoming India’s inclusion in the exclusive club, Manish Tiwari, Congress spokesperson said, “This is an undoubted triumph for India and I think this marks a whole new paradigm in the global energy calculae. The most important thing we need to keep in our minds is that with this agreement finally getting legislative approval in the US, the dehyphination of India in the nuclear equation with Pakistan is finally complete. India has been put into a completely different trajectory. I think it is a great victory for those who believed in a strong prosperous India, which is confident and going to take its place in the super power.”

The PM, the Congress party and the President stood like a rock and Manmohan Singh will go down in the history of this country for ushering in an energy revolution in the country.
