US: General McChrystal may resign

The US commander for NATO forces in Afghanistan, General Stanley McChrystal left the White House after meeting President Obama without attending a highlevel meeting on the security situtaion prevailing in the Afghanistan.
Gen Stanley McChrystal held a one-on-one meeting with Mr Obama which lasted about 30 minutes. President Hamid Karzai has vocally expressed his support for General McChrystal and called him the best commander for the war in Afghanistan, according to his spokesman Waheed Omar. The White House has asked the Pentagon to make a list of possible replacements for McChrystal. NATO leader Anders Fogh Rasmussen has urged that McChrystals essay should be just treated like any other essay. German Defense Minister also spoke in the favor of McChrystal calling him the guarantee to peace in Afghanistan.
It is pertinent to mention that McChrystal was summoned to the White House to explain derogatory remarks about members of the US administration.
