Vernal equinox 2010 now …… Vernal Equinox, otherwise known as the Spring Equinox or March Equinox, happens today, March 20, 2010.

The Vernal Equinox is when the sun crosses the winter, signifying the end of winter and the official start of spring in the northern hemisphere and autumn in the southern hemisphere. Vernal Equinox 2010 officially starts at 1:32 p.m. EST.

An equinox happens twice annually, in March and September (known as the autumnal equinox), when the sun shines directly on the equator and the lengths of day and night are equal all over the world.
