New York City Parade on Veterans Day. From 11 November 1919, the parade has brought New Yorkers and Americans together to honor those who served, the defense of our democracy. From modest beginnings, a year after the armistice that ended World War, the parade has grown not only in scope and scale, but national significance. New York City Veterans Day Parade has suffered and has been a constant through wartime and peacetime. It is a ritual of Veterans Day hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers, armed service members, their families and tourists. It is widely covered by the media locally and nationally. The parade has always been a reflection of New York sense of patriotism, community spirit and respect for the Flag. Participation in this high energy celebration is a great way for your band to thank all those who served our country, protecting our freedoms.|
