Waqar Hails Butt Appointment As PCB Chief

KARACHI: Former Pakistan stylish test batsman Waqar Hasan, Wednesday welcomed the appointment of Ijaz Butt as the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Waqar Hasan, himself having served in various senior positions of the cricket board, reckoned that Ijaz Butt has all the necessary ingredients of a top class cricket administrator and he is the right man for the job at the moment.

“The last few years have been quite turbulent to say the least as far as the Pakistan cricket is concerned.

Ijaz Butt, having proven track record, has the capability to resolve the issues and put the Pakistan cricket back on track,” the former Test batsman felt.

“It’s most heartening to note that a Test cricketer has finally been assigned the task of heading the cricket board affairs. He is the first Test cricketer, after Abdul Hafeez Kardar, to have been installed as the chief of the cricket board.

Ijaz Butt, having served the cricket board in various positions over the years, possesses the wisdom as well as the skills to arrest the decline in Pakistan cricket,” he said.

He commended the PCB Patron, Asif Ali Zardari to have made the right decision,” Waqar Hasan remarked.
